I bet even the most triumphant scientists have had their fair share of ups and down. Fear not, it's Friday – you made it and there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel (unless of course you’re [Schrodinger’s cat](http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/google-doodle/10237347/Schrodingers-Cat-explained.html)), just take a look at what this lot went on to achieve. As a geneticist, I may be biased but my money’s on the a-maizing Barbs McClintock, with a pipetting speed of 10 and a corn-ucopia of jumping genes to contend with I’d say she’s a safe bet.
